On September 27, the “Thousand Schools, Ten Thousand People” Promotion Activity of the 2026 FISU World University Championship Mind Sports and the Chess / International Draughts Competitions of the 16th Liaocheng National Fitness Games were held respectively at Aosen Primary School in Dongchangfu District, Liaocheng, and the Liaocheng International Draughts Training Base.
The event was hosted by the Organizing Committee of the Liaocheng National Fitness Games and the Liaocheng Municipal Bureau of Education and Sports, aiming to promote the popularization and development of mind sports among young people and build momentum for the upcoming international event.

At Aosen Primary School in Dongchangfu District, Liaocheng, the chess competition kicked off enthusiastically, covering more than 80 primary and secondary schools across the city, with nearly 800 students participating. The young players were calm and strategic, engaging in battles of wits on the small chessboards, demonstrating the excellent chess skills and spirit of Liaocheng’s youth.

The international draughts competition, held concurrently at the Liaocheng International Draughts Training Base, covered 22 schools across the city, with over 200 students participating. The competition site was orderly, and the players were fully focused and made their moves calmly, fully embodying the unique charm of mind sports.
During the event, the Mind Sports Culture Exhibition Tour for Primary Schools was also launched. The exhibition featured displays on the growth stories of outstanding international chess players and exhibitions of chess sets and other competition equipment. Through graphic panels, physical displays, and other formats, it vividly presented the development history of chess, the elegance of players, and the evolution of chess sets, attracting many teachers and students to stop and watch.

The tour exhibition not only enriched the cultural connotation of the event but also allowed young people to further understand mind sports and feel the profound heritage of chess culture. As an important cultural promotion activity of the 2026 FISU World University Championship Mind Sports, the “Thousand Schools, Ten Thousand People” mind sports campus promotion series continues to ignite the enthusiasm of young people for participating in mind sports.

The successful holding of this event not only built a platform for primary and secondary school students across the city to exchange chess skills and showcase their talents, but also sowed the seeds of mind sports in campuses, promoting the popularization and development of chess, international draughts, and other events among young people. It injected fresh vitality into Liaocheng’s efforts to build itself into a “National Hometown of Chess” and a “City of Mind Sports,” and created a strong event atmosphere for the upcoming 2026 FISU World University Championship Mind Sports.
In the future, Liaocheng will continue to be guided by events, deepen the integration of sports and education, and enable more young people to gain growth and happiness through mind sports.
